Evelyn's Birthday

Being an aunt is the greatest!  On January 9th, Evelyn Clare Pawelek was born.  Sawyer and I drove up to College Station early that morning.  Becky & Michael had gone into the hospital the night before, so I volunteered to stay at home with Cora so the grandparents could go up to the hospital.  Sawyer and Cora had so much fun playing all morning and watching cartoons.

So much fun, in fact, that they forgot to take a nap.

I tried.  Unsuccessfully.  So, I just let them keep playing.

My plan was to let them play for a while, feed them lunch, then try again.

Brie and I had planned for the girls to paint Evelyn a picture, we figured we would be at the house all day so it would be something fun for them to do.

But, that was not Evelyn's plan.  We had been getting updates all morning, but then all of a sudden around 12:30, Brie and I got a text: "She's here!"  Naps weren't happening.  We scrambled to get ourselves and the girls dressed and ready to go.  Of course, it was pouring rain and if anyone could have seen Brie and I trying to wrangle two carseats, Cora, Sawyer, diaper bags and who knows what else...we will blame it on our excitement!  We couldn't get it together.

We finally got to the hospital, and seeing Cora meet her baby sister for the first time was so priceless.

She just kept saying "aw" over and over.  It was so sweet.

Um, yes, Becky really did JUST have a baby.  Sawyer thought Evelyn was pretty cool too.  She kept saying "baby" and pointing at her.

She is so perfect!!

And she looks so much like Cora.

The girls loved looking at all the babies in the nursery.

Especially this one!

And, the naps never happened.  Fortunately, though, they were so good and there were plenty of people and snacks to keep them happy all day!

I can't wait to watch these three grow up together, they are going to have so much fun!  I love that Sawyer has so many cousins so close to her age.  And, I love that we live close enough that we were able to be there for such a special day that I will never forget!  We love you Baby Evelyn!

13 Months

So, I'm a little behind.  Sawyer turned 13 months a couple weeks ago.

I think I say this every month, but she is so fun right now!

Her little personality is really starting to come out now that she is able to communicate with us so much more.  She LOVES to wave and point and everything and every one.

Which can definitely be really awkward!

She loves Chops more than ever.  At night we ask her if she is ready for Chops & paci and she gets a huge grin on her face and will often start walking to her room and trying to pull them out of her crib.

December was a fun month - full of family, parties and a long Christmas break.  Barry took Sawyer and I out for dinner and ice cream to celebrate our birthdays.  We went to a Hibachi grill for dinner and she was in a trance the entire time...

And, of course, she loved the ice cream.

My dad has been spending a little extra time in Houston for work, which has been really fun for us.  We got to meet him for lunch one day and they took turns feeding each other.

He also got to come to Sawyer's Christmas party at school which was great!

She had a fun dancing to the music on the playground.

She has been practicing eating at the table at school for when she moves up to the next class.  I think its so funny to see her sitting there.

The biggest changes in her life the past month were that we switched to whole milk and we took away the bottles.  She doesn't mind the milk, but she doesn't want to drink it out of the cup.  If I put it in a bottle, its gone.  If I put any other liquid in the sippy cup, its gone.  Milk + sippy cup = not good.  We are working on it.

But, since she isn't drinking milk, she is STARVING.  She eats so much.  She has 8 teeth now, 4 on top and 4 on bottom, so she can pretty much eat anything.  And, will eat anything.

We took Sawyer to see Santa and she did great!

She really liked the fish.  When we ask her what a fish says she opens and closes her mouth, that is also what a few other animals say as well apparently.  We are working on that too!

Cora came and spent the night with us one night and the girls had so much fun!

Crazy hair runs in the family.

I'm sure that was the first of many sleepovers to come!  Lori also enjoyed it - 2 kids eating = double the food on the floor!

Sawyer absolutely loves Lori...and her bed.

When I bought Lori that bed, I went ahead and bought an extra one just in case...

Good thing.  She is still super helpful around the house.  I was trying to cook one night and she wasn't having it, so I gave her her own bowl and spoon.  Problem solved.

She continues to be obsessed with the dishwasher.

Speaking of obsessed...the wagon.

We ended up having to hide it because it is too cold to go outside.  Sometimes she finds it, climbs in it and then points and the handle, so we take her for a few laps around the living room.

She is a great shopping buddy!

One day we were out shopping all day so we made a stop at Starbucks.  She thought this cup was the greatest.

She is really starting to look so grown up to me now!

I love seeing her toddle around and discover all these new things and "talk" about them.  But, it is happening so quickly!

But, then I see her sleeping like this and it reminds me that she is still my sweet little baby!

Who is just about to big for that car seat... She is constantly babbling.  She says mama, dada, hi, eye, and is really starting to repeat a lot of sounds.  She knows where her hair is, but any other body part we ask her, she always points to her ear.  She really likes to brush and wash her crazy hair by herself.

2012 was such a fun year and looking back, I can't believe how extremely blessed we are.  I wasn't sure if I was going to continue doing these monthly posts, but I really love to go back and look at them so for now...I will keep going!  I can't wait to see what 2013 brings us!

Happy New Year!

Gymnastics

Over the Christmas break I had a couple weeks off of work and wanted to do something fun with Sawyer.  My friend Kristina and I talked about the zoo, but it all of a sudden got cold so we took our girls to gymnastics.  Sawyer had the best time climbing, running, swinging, jumping and singing songs!
