Ty: 6 months

Happy half birthday my buddy!

This little boy and his dimples are just too much!

Fall for our family means football - so over the past month Ty watched his first Aggie game and was cheering for the Coogs!

He even took his first trip to College Station for his first of many Fernandez family tailgate parties.  It was so hot and he was such a trooper all day!

Ty started Mother's Day Out at the beginning of September, he is going two days a week so that I have some time to do some work.  We weren't really sure how it was going to go after our failed bottle bootcamp.  But, I packed 5 different bottles and a bowl of cereal and hoped for the best.

I got a phone call about an hour before it was time to pick him up that he was refusing to eat and could I come get him.  Stinker.  As soon as I got him, put him in the car and crawled in the back seat to feed him, he looked over at me...

I can't even be mad.  But, fortunately that was just a first day thing.  He is doing much better and staying the whole time.  He still isn't taking a bottle but he will eat his cereal and drink an ounce or two of milk from a sippy cup.  He is one of three babies - the only boy - so he get lots of cuddles and they are spoiling him!  He is even learning to work the cup himself - even if he is only playing with it and not actually drinking anything.

He has now eaten sweet potatoes, apples, avocado and bananas.  He doesn't really love any of it but he will tolerate it.  And mostly just makes a mess.

Sleeping is going...ok.  STILL not sleeping through the night, but he is back in his crib most nights.  Now he will sleep on his stomach when he rolls over, but now, this...

But, Becky and I accidentally discovered that he all of a sudden likes to be swaddled.

The pacifier was a short lived thing...just for that day...but the swaddle and sleep sack help with the chunky thigh problem.  And makes for really sweet pictures with cousins!

We did some traveling throughout the month as well.  A weekend in Yoakum where we took Ty on his first fishing excursion (and Sawyer {kind of} caught her first fish!) and hung out with Logan - who couldn't get enough of holding Ty. =)

We also spent some time in San Antonio hanging out with family.

I am so thankful he just goes with the flow and is happy wherever he is - even if it is in the midst of his sister's smothering hugs.

I hope they will always love each other this much.  He thinks Sawyer is just so funny.  I think his grunting laugh is so funny!  We also had Ty's baby dedication this month - of which I got no pictures. Except for this one of the beautiful cupcakes Grandma made.

He is really into sitting up and watching everything and inch worms himself around wherever he wants to go.  At his 6 month check up he weight 18 lbs 14 oz (78%), was 28 inches long (95%) and his head was 17.5 inches (82%).  He doesn't have any teeth yet.  He is wearing 6-9 and 9 month clothing and is just finishing up his last bit of size three diapers before we move him up.  He is such a joy in our lives and I love watching his little personality really starting to come out!

And just for fun...both at 6 months.

Ty: 5 Months

This little guy just melts my heart.

He has such a sweet demeanor and is so silly and expressive all the time.

All it takes is a few words thrown his way to get a smile out of him.  Lots more firsts happened over the month, some went over better than others.  My parents just put in this great pool in their backyard so we spent quite a bit of time there.  Swimming for the first time did not go over so well!

I really thought he would love it since he loves the bath so much.  He didn't cry or anything he just looked so irritated the whole time, which obviously wasn't long.

Another thing that is not going over so well - taking a bottle.  He will. not.  Won't have anything to do with it.  We put him in bottle boot camp and he won.  So, plan B - in preparation for starting Mother's Day Out in September - was to try solids, which did go over wonderfully.  At first.

He has only had cereal at this point, and some days he likes it more than others.  He was doing so great sleeping in his crib at night, but that is no more.  He has finally started rolling from stomach to back occasionally.  But, anytime he rolls over in his sleep he wakes up as soon as he is on his stomach, so...back to the Rock 'n Play.

He doesn't have much room in there, but he sleeps so much better - which makes for better sleep for all.  He is still not sleeping through the night.  Usually awake every 3 hours, sometimes he will go 4-5 hours.  But usually 3 hours, almost to the minute.  We got the exercauser (?) this month and he is really loving that.  Despite his face here...

He also got to experience one of the many Fernandez family traditions - his first Wild Game Dinner.  My parents host a party every year - basically a "clean out the freezer" party from the previous hunting season and camo attire is required.  It is an all day affair of cooking, eating and hanging out outside with family.

the whole fam
We also spent some time at the softball fields watching Barry & BJ - Ty LOVES to be outside.

His other favorite things...watching Sawyer & Lori (he's obsessed), when Barry comes home and pulling hair.

Fortunately, his last swimming experience of the month turned out much better.

Probably because there was pool side dining involved.

Ty is in all 6 month clothing and size 3 diapers - neither of which will last too much longer!  I would guess he weighs about 18 pounds.

Every day is so fun with this sweet happy boy - even when I am grouchy from not sleeping.  ever.
