21 Months

August is a crazy busy month in the Boening house.  Preseason camps are in full swing which means at least a 14 hour workday 6-7 days a week.  Fortunately I have a very supportive and willing-to-help family!  A handful of nights Sawyer would stay up at work with me and help - she became quite the staple at dinner passing out recovery drinks and snacks, and stealing brownies.

As a result, she now loves "fooball."  Everytime we pull into the parking lot at work she says "cited see fooball!"  All sports are football to her.

Since I was working so much, she got to spend some extra time with Daddy in Yoakum and a day with Aunt Becky.

Trouble.

Her picky eating still remains, but she never turns down sweets!  I have gotten her to eat meat a few times, and she likes it if she would just try it.  We bargain with strawberries.  She does love most fruit so she at least has some nutrition in her life.  Other loves besides sweets:  Pots, Pie, Mick-A-Mouse, reading, doing puzzles, babies - and covering them with blankets, "fins", school, princesses, watching mofies in the car, singing "monkeys jump on bed" and "wheels on bus" and talking.  A lot of talking.  She always refers to herself in third person - she calls herself Sigh-er and is saying quite a few sentences now.  She is very, very sweet.  She tells me that my dress (which is usually a shirt) is pretty, she likes my hair or my nails and she always says thank you.  She loves to gives hugs and kisses, and high fives and fist bumps.  She still always says "mine" and "no" is a pretty big staple as well.  She also really likes to have her picture taken and asks me to do so often.

Or just does it herself.

Of course, this wouldn't be a monthly update without the usual blue chair pictures...Sawyer is in for a big change...

But, we are all very excited about Sawyer becoming a big sister in March!

20 Months

Sawyer is growing up so quickly, I can't keep up with it!

Her personality is also growing quickly...by the day!

She is talking like crazy and is very adamant about what she wants.  This day...pwenkin and kitty.

She LOVES to read.  She will sit in her closet and read books over and over by herself.  She also loves to be read to and is constantly bringing us books saying "read it."  She really likes this peek-a-book book where you lift the flaps...she acts totally surprised every time!

Other favorites of hers: saying "mine, " Rory, Daddy, Cake, and calling me Mom - no more Mommy.  This night she wanted to make cake for daddy.

She is such a sweetheart!  This other night, she asked me to take her "pitcher Mom."  I went to get my phone and this is how she wanted to pose for the photo...

School is going really well for Sawyer.  She tells me most morning that she is "cited fins!"  (Excited to see her friends)  I love getting there and watching what she is doing before she sees me.

She often times does not want to leave because she is having so much fun.

Since we spent 3 out of 4 weekends at the beach in July there wasn't much time for anything else.  We did manage to get some work done in between all the vacation time.

And some playing at the park.

I also took Sawyer to the zoo one afternoon.  August brings LOOOONG days at work and I knew I wouldn't get to spend as much time with Sawyer so we played hooky one afternoon to hang out.  She was terrified of the "elfants" but really loved the cow and brushing the goats.

Can't believe summer is already over, but thankful it was such a fun one!

Galveston Trip #2

The Wednesday after we went to Galveston with my family, Barry, Sawyer and I headed back down there.  This time to meet Dan, Emily and Charlotte.  I met Emily my very first night of college.  Five years, almost to the day, before this picture was taken.

And here we are 5 years after that, this summer, both married and with baby girls who are 2 weeks apart!

We lived together for two years in college.  We haven't been able to spend as much time together as we would like to, but ever since we moved out of that Enclave apartment there has not been a week (some weeks even days!) go by that we haven't talked.  I cherish our friendship so much and was so glad we got to spend the long weekend together.  We spent one day in town, but otherwise hung out at the beach and pool catching up, letting the girls play and soaking up the last bit of summer with some family time!

Such a great weekend and wonderful way to end the summer.  Just last night at dinner Sawyer asked me where Charlotte was - I think she likes her.  I pray that one day Sawyer can meet her "Emily" too!

Fernandez Family Galveston Trip

Back in July, we were fortunate enough to spend a weekend at the beach with my immediate family.  We always to the big 4th of July trip with our extended family, but it has been a really long time since we did a vacation with just my immediate family so we were long overdue!  And, now that my parents live in Houston, going to Galveston is perfect for a weekend trip.  We went down on a Thursday evening and spent the weekend at the pool, beach and just hanging out.  It was wonderful!

We stayed at the Pointe West Beach Club and it was perfect for the kiddos.  They had an awesome kids pool - the girls had a blast.

We hung out there all day, ordered lunch and just relaxed!

We spent our afternoons on the beach - which was amazing.  No traffic, hardly any people and tons of space for the girls to run and play.

She loves Myyyyykal

Gus with the photo bomb

These girls were a couple of beach bums.

"This is beeeeee life"

The cousin love just melts my heart.

Thanks to these two for a wonderful weekend!  Hopefully we can make it an annual thing...

Thanks to my sisters for the awesome photos!  Much better than my usual iPhone photography.
