Sawyer's Second Year in Pictures
I did this last year when Sawyer turned one. It is so crazy to see how quickly she has changed over the past year. Here are all the monthly pictures I have Instagrammed over the past 12 months…
Thanksgiving and Birthdays 2013
This year our birthdays (Sawyer & I) fell on Thanksgiving weekend. Usually it is a week later so I felt like we had a super long celebration and got to see all of our families which was wonderful! We spent Thanksgiving day in Houston with my family, it was strange (good strange) to wake up in our own house on a holiday - we have never done that before! We started the day watching the Macy's parade.
I put it on hoping it would entertain her for a few minutes while I could get dressed, but she was soooo into it! She would get so excited every time a new band or song would come on and yell out "A BAND!" We spent the rest of the day at my parent's house eating, eating, eating and eating.
Even the baby dolls.
Brie and I attempted to do some Christmas shopping that night at some stores close to our house. Bad idea. We lasted all of 45 minutes before we called it quits! The next day we went to Yoakum to see the other side of the family and attend a wedding. Sawyer had so much fun riding "her horse," playing with "her Logan," and decorating cupcakes with "her Grandma."
She was so proud of her work! Saturday night we went to a beautiful wedding between two of Barry's friends from high school - such a fun night!
Sunday was Sawyer's second birthday. She took full advantage of all the attention and being a princess for the day!
After church, we had a lunch at Grandma and Pampa's (???) house.
Every time she would open a present she would say "cuuute" or "I wub it!"
That afternoon we drove back home. We were planning to go to my parents' house for dinner to celebrate Sawyer's birthday. My mom kept calling me asking me what time we would be there, could we be there by 5:30?, could we wear something nice so we could take Christmas card pictures?, my sisters were waiting on us...etc… When we arrived at 5:30 wearing something nice, I walked into this…
Barry had spent the last month planning a surprise birthday party for me - I had no idea!! My parents, with the help of my sisters, my grandmas and my aunt Cindy, cooked dinner for everyone, their house looked amazing and Barry invited so many friends. It was such a great start to my 30s! We also celebrated Princess Sawyer's birthday again too.
Such a perfect night! And, for one final birthday celebration - we took Sawyer to the zoo. We weren't planning to do a big party for her, but wanted to do something. Since she kept saying that she wanted a zoo for her birthday, we obliged. I left work early one afternoon, picked Sawyer up and we went to see the animals.
She really loved the elephants, monkeys, giraffes and zebras. She wanted to take a picture holding the monkey's hand.
Every time we would see a new animal she would say "take my pitcher with dis one, mom."
For the month of December, the Houston Zoo turns into a winter wonderland with TONS of lights and Christmas music playing throughout the park. Barry and my parents met us downtown for a quick dinner and we went back to Zoo Lights.
Looking back at all this it was a whirlwind of a weekend, but we had so much fun and have so, so, so much to be thankful for!

Meet our baby...
The way our doctor's appointments fell this time we saw our regular doctor at week 19. I wanted so badly for him just to check and see if we were having a boy or a girl, but had to settle with checking blood pressure and heartbeat. Another uneventful, thankfully, check up! I did manage to gain 5 pounds in a month though - and then schedule another appointment the Monday after Thanksgiving - good move. Another 5 pounds to come for sure.
And then the day I turned 20 weeks came. November 11th.
We scheduled our anatomy ultrasound with the specialist, who had opened up an office in Sugarland since we had Sawyer. Perfect. Except that I totally didn't pay attention to where in Sugarland and just assumed it was at the hospital where we had Sawyer. Bad assumption. We went to the hospital, and people were looking at us like we were crazy when we would ask where this doctor's office was. We finally figured out where we needed to be, which fortunately wasn't very far and headed over there - only to go to the wrong building again. I assumed, again, that it would be in the office section of the hospital, not the actual hospital. Anyway, we finally made it and still got to have our appointment. I was so nervous that they would make us reschedule.
We tried to think of a creative way to tell our families again, but couldn't come up with anything. We went out and enjoyed lunch by ourselves talking about our baby boy and trying to come up with a name for him. It didn't come quite as easily as Sawyer, but a month later and we have finally made a decision (thanks for the help Kasey!). We used this video of Sawyer to tell everyone…
Here I am at 20 weeks with both of them…

Once we started the ultrasound, they checked on all the baby's body parts and everything looked great. No concerns with baby or me. They always do all the measurements and make you wait, what seems like FOREVER, before they tell you the gender. But, once we finally got to that part, Barry and I were thrilled. I'm pretty sure the only thing I said was "No way!" followed by a few happy tears.
Meet…

23 Months
These months are flying by faster and faster! Sawyer turned 23 months on November 1st.
With every day that passes, Sawyer's personality grows exponentially.
She is so, so sweet and SO silly!
The dancing, singing and conversations are non-stop. Her favorite songs to sing are ABCs in English and some form of Spanish ABCs - its different every time - and wheels on the bus. Her other favorites are anything Disney, milk, Pots, Pie, babies and helping me cook.
She insists on wearing her "Sef's hat" to cook. We went up to Dallas for a quick trip and I took her into the Disney store at the mall. It was heaven on Earth for her. She kept saying "wook at dis mom!" and was hugging every stuffed toy she could get her hands on.
Somehow, we left empty handed. We also spent a weekend in College Station.
She had a blast tailgating and running around with her cousins.
Cheetos and milk, what more could you need?? The weekend we went, the game was at 8 PM and it was supposed to be really cold, but last minute some tickets came up so we decided to give it a shot, not expecting Sawyer to last too long. She was really apprehensive at first, but quickly warmed up and had a great time.
My mom bought tickets to take the girls to see Disney on Ice. These blonde curly headed BFFs had soooo much fun!
We spent a weekend in Yoakum as well and took all the kids to the corn maze.
It was a perfect afternoon of climbing, sliding, animals and running around!
Sawyer LOVES going to school every day, she asks about her "fwends" all the time. She is doing really well with her Spanish - she is always singing songs and we have no idea what she is saying. Carrying her "wunch-pack" is a must.
She unfortunately takes after me and is not at all a morning person if we have to wake her up. It is a nice little struggle every morning to get dressed, but she does love to do her "pintails." She always asks for two and then says "its wike a kit-cat."
Her potty training is going really well at school, not so much at home. She continues to be a picky eater but has eaten meat a handful of times, which is progress. She always offers Barry and I whatever she is eating off of her plate - so sweet. We had decided a while back that we were going to move the crib out of her room around her second birthday. She sleeps on a cot at school, so we didn't think it would be too big of a deal for her to switch to her big-girl bed. We left the crib mattress on the floor for a couple days. This is her practicing…
But this is how it actually turned out…
We have since moved her to the actual bed, with sides, and she is doing great. She is loving hosting tea parties and breakfast in her big girl room with all her toys.
The end of November finally brought some colder weather - enough to have a fire, which Sawyer was terrified of at first! Wouldn't go into the living room. But, she has come around and is much more comfortable now.
She found that Bumbo seat in our mess of cleaning out baby stuff and has claimed it as her chair. We also started to get some Christmas decorating done at the end of November, I can't wait to experience all of this with her. She is already loving everything "Chwismas" - especially the "colors & sparkle shoes" aka Christmas lights.
