Ty: 9 months

9 months old!

My little snuggly Ty-Ty is growing up so quickly!

He continues to be a serious momma's boy, sometimes I think it is just because he likes my hair.  LOVES my hair.  I always think he is giving me the greatest hugs whenever I pick him up, only to feel a giant pull on my hair and find a handful between his little fingers.

Ty's 9th month started out great!  His first hunting trip and Thanksgiving at the beginning of the month were the highs...

But then we had a bit of a rough patch.  One ear infection, followed by a food challenge that did not go well, followed by a double ear infection and pink eye and teething all the while.  I got lots of snuggles and there were a lot of days in our PJs.

We did the food challenge per our doctors instructions at his 9 month check up.  Since he has previously had a reaction to milk protein, she instructed us to give him some yogurt around 9 months since most kids grow out of it by then.  He is definitely still allergic.  He loved the yogurt, but two hours later was throwing up over and over, for an hour straight.  It was the absolute saddest thing.

I am, however, thankful that it is a very acute reaction, nothing life threatening, and after that hour of miserableness and a long nap he is back to normal.

We will try again at about 15 months, hopefully with a better result.  Fortunately we have been able to find some dairy free/soy free snacks that he loves - he is absolutely obsessed with Puffs.

 And loves Cheerios.

And he is becoming less and less interested in being fed - so onto the messy finger food stage we go! He likes avocados, beans, tomatoes, rice, pretty much anything I put on his tray.

He checked out great at his 9 month appointment.  He was 20 lbs 2 oz (61st%), 29.5 in long (92nd%) and his head was 18 inches (73%).  He is in 12 month clothes and wears size 4 diapers.  He pulls up on everything and is a speed crawler.

His favorite thing is the bath, and everything about it.  The bathroom door stays closed all the time because he loves to just go in there and bang his toys on the bath tub, then he of course drops them in, then tries to get them out.  It won't end well, so we just avoid that all together!  He still doesn't sleep through the night, maybe someday.  He likes to be rocked to sleep and then sleeps curled up in a tiny little ball on his stomach.  He still doesn't take a bottle, but his time is coming because I have a trip coming up.  He loves to play in Sawyer's room and  ride in the car - sleeps instantly, but wakes up as soon as we stop.  Despite all the sickness over the month, he is still such a happy baby and always smiling.  His laugh is ridiculous.

For as long as some of the days were that month, time continues to fly by and I am very thankful for their health otherwise.  I am trying to soak it all up and enjoy every minute with these kiddos of mine!

9 months.

Sawyer: 3 Years

My girl is three!

My sweet, sassy, spunky girl is growing up by the minute and she has quite the personality.

Sawyer's birthday fell on a Monday this year and we had a doctor's appointment first thing in the morning for her well check and more importantly, to get her ears pierced.  We had been talking about it for months.  She was adamant about getting purple earrings.  When I told her the doctor didn't have purple, she was ok with getting gold like mine.  We made a deal that when she turned 3, she was going to be a big girl so she could have earrings, but she couldn't have pies (pacifiers) anymore because big girls don't use pies.  I kept asking her what we were going to do with her pies on her birthday - because I wasn't sure she really knew what it meant that she wasn't going to have them anymore - and she would just say throw "them in the trash!"

The morning, we decided to take them to the doctor to give them to the babies and she would trade them in for earrings.

She did great!  She weighed 32 pounds, was 38 inches tall and refused to do the eye test.  But she walked out of there with 2 gold earrings - at one point I thought she might only walk out with one...

We went next door to pick up donuts to take to my parents house; my grandparents were still in town from Thanksgiving so we wanted to celebrate with them.

We then went to take donuts to Becky's house and see the girls.  When we got home and it was nap time, the first thing she said was "I need my pie"........... which, fortunately, didn't last long.

We had plans to go to Zoo Lights that night with family instead of doing a birthday party, but it was a gross, rainy day so we changed the plans to a PJs, Chocolate Milk & Cookies party last minute and invited everyone to our house instead.  It turned out to be a great little get together and Sawyer had a wonderful time!

This has been such a fun year with Sawyer.  She pushes our buttons and tests her limits (often) but she is so sweet and is always wanting to help me with everything I am doing.  She is such a great big sister and is so obsessed with Ty, she is always trying to make him laugh and bringing him toys.  She loves to play pretend, she is always the mom and her animals are her kids.  She loves going to school and speaks a lot of Spanish, according to her teachers.  She won't speak much in front of us but she totally understands.  She loves all things princess and sparkly and purple.  She is getting really into art and coloring and loves to watch movies - princess ones of course.  She is very opinionated, talks constantly and likes to pick out her clothes and decide how she will wear her hair that day.  We love her and her giant personality more and more every day, it is so fun to watch her grow and wait for the next crazy thing she will say!

First Nutcracker

This year my mom treated us to the Nutcracker Ballet on my birthday.  We used to go every year, my sister (sometimes both) was in it every year, but I haven't been since her last performance which was a looooong time ago!

My mom found tickets to a local ballet company which was actually perfect because we were able to take Sawyer and Cora as well.  We had been talking about the show for a week or so before going and every time a Houston Ballet commercial would come on TV Sawyer would talk about how excited she was to see the "Ballerina Cracker."  M.E. bought the girls new fancy dresses for the show and they were so into it!  I think these pictures are just the sweetest.  They were so excited and had no idea what they were actually excited about!

On the way there, my mom read them the Nutracker story.

They were so funny once we got there.  Cora had brought a purse, naturally, and was so thoughtful and brought one for Sawyer too...incase she had forgotten hers.  Which she had.

While waiting for the show, they had to make a quick phone call on the Doc McStuffins phone to their other BFF, Julia, to tell her about the ballerina cracker.

They did so good during the show and they loved it!  We all did.  They got to meet the ballerinas after the show and they were just in awe!

Such a fun afternoon and I am looking forward to resuming the annual Nutcracker tradition!  And, my little buddy had a fun afternoon with the guys...
